Overview

The HSByte Charts Library is a collection of lightweight, dependency-free charting suite for React. This library provides a set of essential data visualization components built entirely from the ground up. By using native SVG and React without external visualization frameworks, it offers a clean, predictable, and highly performant way to display data while keeping your bundle size to a minimum.

Technical Implementation

Rather than relying on high-level abstractions, this library manages the core visualization logic internally to ensure maximum transparency:

  • SVG Coordinate Mapping: Custom scaling functions that map raw data points to a responsive coordinate system.
  • Path Generation: Hand-crafted string generators for viewBox paths, ensuring smooth transitions and clean geometry.
  • Performance First: Leverages React's reconciliation and memoization to update only the necessary SVG elements during data shifts.

The Motivation

I developed this library to provide a more transparent alternative to heavy charting frameworks. By handling the geometry and scaling logic internally, the goal was to create a tool that is easy to debug, fast to load, and provides exactly what is needed for a clean user interface.
